FAQ
What is Project Permaculture? |
Project Permaculture is an online community dedicated to promoting and diffusing the technical details of innovative and sustainable practices in agriculture and natural resource management. |
How is Project Permaculture organized? |
The project is organized according to sub-projects. Each sub-project is related to a specific thematic area or technological innovation. We are currently in the process of developing the Project sub-projects. Please be patient, and they will be online soon. |
What are the goals of Project Permaculture? |
Project Permaculture’s mission is three-fold, and can be summarized as follows: Present the technical details of highly innovative sustainable practices in agriculture and natural resource management. Provide a collaborative community where the principles and methods of Free and Open Source software can be applied to technological innovations beyond the realm of information technology. Create an online, global community of citizens dedicated to sharing information, innovation, and successful practices for the purpose of promoting conservation and sustainable resource management in both the developed and developing world. |
What tools does the project provide to make this possible? |
Following in the footsteps of the Free Software movement, the project is designed to provide its community with the necessary tools to create productive collaborative efforts. With this in mind, each sub-project is equipped with a wiki, an electronic mailing list, and a bulletin board. The site's main blog will help keep visitors up to date on developments within the community. |
At this moment, we have two active sub-projects. We hope that this number will grow in the future. Start by participating in the forums or the wiki from one of the sub-projects (Note: We are currently in the process of developing the Project's sub-projects. Please be patient). Or, if you are willing to dedicate some of your time, you can create a new sub-project and become the project's moderator. This shouldn't take more than several hours a week. The time required in the beginning will be the greatest investment as you will need to learn the IT and organizing skills to be a good moderator. |
Anybody with an interest in appropriate technology, permaculture, resource conservation, community-supported agriculture, etc. All are welcome to participate. |
