Apiary in Morochata Evaluated By Agroinnovations
Recently, Agroinnovations Bolivia has come to agreement with ECOBONA, a forest conservation project financed by Intercooperation, to assist in the development and implementation of a beekeeping project in the Province of Ayopaya, located in the Cochabamba department of Bolivia.
As part of our implementation of this project, Agricultural Innovations has recently completed a complete base line study to evaluate the current status of apiculture in the municipalities of Independencia and Morochata. This study was a complete evaluation of several Campesino Economic Organizations (OECAs).
We carefully looked at a number of factors related to production and the organization, including:
- A complete analysis of the apiaries in the area
- A look at the organizational and social structure of the OECAs
- An economic evaluation of production costs, yields, and net income
- An analysis of sanitary measures and productive infrastructure
Currently, we are developing a detailed training plan to improve the productive capacity of these rural producers. We will continue to post news on the progress of this project as it becomes available.
