I’ve been MIA in the blogosphere for well over a month now. No excuses, just haven’t felt the need to be blogging lately. Its certainly true that the global warming issue is massive, and just trying to grasp what is at stake by reading and observing could be a full time job in itself.
It seems as a society we’ve started to reach the tipping point in the global warming issue. With the release of the newest IPCC report, the new Democratic Congress, and a growing awareness among everyday Americans that this is a real, scientifically verifiable phenomenon, and that yes, our actions as humans are having a major impact on the future trajectory of climate change.
The jury is still out whether or not our growing awareness can translate into massive action quickly enough. We will have to make sacrifice (a word that seems anathema in the current political climate), and we will have to invest our resources wisely and effectively.
Global warming and climate change will affect every aspect of our lives, and agriculture and food security are no exception. As was my initial intent when I created this blog, I’d like to get back to an agricultural focus, not just in the area of climate change but also the many other areas of our lives involved with and affected by agriculture. So, look for my posts to shift in focus somewhat towards the agricultural dimension.
