According to research comparing conventional triticale production to organic production, “…the preventative application of insecticides against aphids does not produce any advantages even though it consumes a lot of time and money.” This is because:
- “insecticides indiscriminately kill off beneficial animals that feed on the aphids”
- “[researchers] detected three times as many natural enemies of aphids and five times fewer aphids in the organic fields than in the conventional fields”

Thanks for the kind words Brian. It’s been hectic getting the site rebuilt, but I think it was long overdue. This site is easier to manage, everything is in one place, it has a lot more cool features and functionality, and will be easier to upgrade in the future.
